To be perfectly honest I'm still caught between this screen and the heavier more how do I say Raw more steel like silver mesh screen that I chose it it will actually straight up stick in your flesh if you find a corner once you cut it or it tears or anything and it come the edges it will cut it will cut the hell out of you it's like handling fiberglass fiberglass lunch trays when we're in school only worse and the metal little thin well just see my next review to look at it this black one does seem to be flame retardant while it did catch at first it burned itself out on its own I didn't blow it out it didn't melt and it was not even hot to the touch after it went out I waited one second touched it when I bare fingers and it didn't burn me and it did not melt so there's that. And yes you can cut it very easily with a regular pair of household at friskers scissors. The other more heavy duty one that you can also cut very easily with scissors I couldn't believe it but you can. I like the durability of the heavier screen I'll show you I don't like getting it stuck in my fingers though. Does black one does not do that nothing painful about the black screen it's soft, very easy to work with and I love the appearance I recently painted the exterior of my house two tone charcoal gray black trim and Dove gray on the cedar planks or whatever they're called the black screen in the windows would look really sharp I'll likely use it on my windows but I had to test its fire resistance because I just couldn't believe it wouldn't set fire as as soft as it was I figured it would burn right up in seconds Like Straw but you saw it and didn't I wanted to cover up I wanted it to cover up one of those antique 19 30s floor furnace it's right in the middle of the kitchen living room right in the middle of the floor and it catches everything food- including but not limited to marshmallows bread meatballs spaghetti squishy macaroni pancake syrup Skittles gummy worms and beans that's right in the kitchen practically right in front of the refrigerator it also has a tendency to catch spilled milk, even juicy drippings from uncooked stew meat hamburger you know the blood that raw meat tends to have accumulated around it in a meat package, that too and many other not so Tasties all get trapped down inside that floor furnace, I'm sure you're familiar with what happens to outdated or spoiled food that sits in your refrigerator countertop had a picnic or whatever over hours. Or God forbid days without being refrigerated- well guess what? So does the food that gets trapped down inside of a floor furnace! THIS is what my nightmares are made of, and it stinks! Then to add insult to injury... I touched a maggot, call me a wimp call me a candy ass I don't freaking care but that was a straw that broke this germaphobes back, I don't do maggots. PERIOD. So fair warning, if you have a floor furnace or any kind of heating vents in your floor you would be wise to add a screen underneath the middle grade. Good night and good luck, and happy screening~
