About Physical Tempering: 

 

Physically tempered glass is also called quenched tempered glass. The principle of physical tempering manufacturing process is to heat the glass to above the softening point temperature, and cause large compressive stress on the surface through rapid and even quenching, thereby improving the ability to withstand external forces;

About Chemical Tempering: 

 

Chemical tempering is also called the ion exchange enhancement method. The principle is that the glass changes the surface composition of the glass through the exchange of ions in the molten salt, thereby enhancing the stress of the glass to improve the stability and mechanical properties of the glass.

 

Chemically tempered thin glass is stronger than physical tempered glass in terms of flatness and mechanical strength. However, chemically tempered thin glass is broken in a needle-like state, which is unsafe to break. From a production perspective, compared to chemical method, The physical method has low cost, high production efficiency and no polluting waste.

 

At present, the tempered glass in solar cell modules adopts the physical tempering method. The strength after tempering can reach 4 to 6 times that of ordinary flat glass. Moreover, after the tempered glass is broken, it immediately splits into small particles without sharp corners, which is the most commonly used safety glass.

 

The coating process is to deposit an anti-reflective film on the surface of the glass to reduce the reflectivity of light on the glass surface and increase the light transmittance. Practice has proven that the use of anti-reflection coated glass can increase the power generation efficiency of photovoltaic modules by 2.5%. It is a cheap and effective means of improving the power generation efficiency of photovoltaic modules. The deposition of anti-reflection coatings on photovoltaic glass is mainly produced by the sol-gel method.

 

At present, there are two main routes for tempered glass deep processing in the industry: one is coating first and then tempering, that is, applying silica sol to the surface of the original glass, drying and solidifying it, and then entering the tempering furnace for tempering. The coated glass produced by this process has a high surface hardness. But the surface is easy to absorb water and dust; the other is to temper it first Post-coating, that is, the original glass is tempered first, and then silica sol is applied to the glass surface, dried and solidified. The surface of the produced coated glass contains a small amount of organic matter and has certain hydrophobicity and anti-fouling properties, but this Coated-like glass has low hardness, poor film adhesion, and is easily scratched. With the improvement of technology, the process of coating first and then tempering is now mostly used.
